WANT TO CHANGE CAREERS? HOW TO FIND
WHAT YOU REALLY WANT IN 6 SIMPLE STEPS
                     By Waller Jamison

You may have know for a long time that you want to change career. How to actually do it is not so easy. The following 6 steps will help you get your career back on the right track.

Step #1 What Gives You a Buzz?
The first step is to decide exactly what you want from a career. One of the problems with career choice is that we never really know what a career will be like until we actually do the job. So rather than choosing a job title, choose the qualities that you really want to get from a job.
Everything we do in life is about feelings and your choice of job is no exception. So decide what you want to feel after a day at work and after many months or years in your career. Everyone wants to experience job satisfaction, but what does that mean to you?
Do you want to feel that you have helped people or that you have created something new? What sort of activity gives you those feelings? Do you want to discover a new way to treat an illness or to create a piece of software which will make people's lives easier or more fun?
Do you get a buzz when you work out a mathematical calculation, communicate with a child or use a foreign language? Or do you enjoy operating machinery or creating something with your hands?

Step #2 Make a List of What You Want
Make a list of everything you would like to experience in your career, everything which would give you a buzz and create job satisfaction. Then write down all the careers which would fit your list.

          Step #3 Research
Once you have a list, spend some time researching the different career options you have come up with. This might take some time, but it will be worth it. Read as much as you can about each career - you'll find plenty of information online and there are books covering just about every career imaginable. You can spend time browsing in a bookshop or careers library. Also try to speak to people actually doing the job. Be sure to find out exactly what training and which qualifications you'll need.

          Step #4 Make a Shortlist
Once you've done your research, write a shortlist. At this stage, you can sift out anything which is too difficult, for example any career which requires qualifications you don't have or feel you can't get or which requires expensive training which you can't afford. Don't forget that many of the things you want can be achieved through a number of different career paths and so don't think you can't get what you want because a specific career is not open to you.

Step #5 Write an Action Plan
Create an action plan. You can do this for as many careers as you like on your shortlist. Start with the end goal and work backwards, noting all the steps you need to take to get from where you are now to where you want to go. Understanding what is involved will help you to make a final decision. And remember that nothing is set in stone. You may make small or large changes as you go and you are entitled to change your mind.

          Step #6 Take Action
Choose the plan with which you resonate most closely and take action today, even if it is just a small step, like phoning a college to get information about a course.

SOCIAL MEDIA GOLDMINES – FACEBOOK AND TWITTER by Greg Mangin

Facebook. Twitter. The names might sound silly, but their power is anything but. Social media web sites are the face of the Web 2.0 marketing revolution. They work on a simple networking principle: word of mouth. You create a profile and invite your friends to subscribe to it. Then they invite their friends, and pretty soon your messages are being sent out far and wide to a receptive audience.  Let's take a closer look at how you can use Facebook and Twitter to share your business with the world.

Facebook has over 150 million active users, and is among the top 100 most visited web sites in the world. It allows people to join networks and add friends who share common interests. It also lets you share personal and business information with friends in your network.  To join Facebook, go to Facebook.com and enter your e-mail address, password, and date of birth. You'll soon receive a confirmation e-mail. Once your address has been confirmed, you can start searching for your friends and joining networks. Your own profile can be customized by clicking "Profile", "Info", and then "Edit Information".

Facebook allows you to share links, videos, pictures, messages, and status updates with everyone on your friends list. You can even play games and send virtual items to your friends. Remember, Facebook is where people go to see the human side of your business.

Twitter has been called a mini-blog, and for good reason. Users send out continuous updates, or "tweets", in 140 characters or less. Because it's so easy to use Twitter over cell phones, updates can be sent from anywhere - airport terminals, clubs, sporting events, and even the dentist's office. Using Twitter is like having your own reality show with millions of potential viewers.

Twitter is even more user-friendly than Facebook. To get started, go to twitter.com. Choose an easy user name and password, and then choose whether or not you want to import the contacts from your Gmail, Yahoo, or Hotmail account.

Next, you'll be brought to your home page. Enter a message in the box at the top of the page, and click "Update". That's all you have to do to start tweeting. Later, you can click on the "Settings" tab at the top of your home page to fill in your profile details.

You can use Twitter to announce new blog posts, share tips, and answer people's questions. If someone "follows" you, follow them back. You can send private tweets to people, but your public tweets can be seen by all of your followers and all of their followers. This makes it possible to cultivate a good audience in very little time. You can even add a Twitter widget to your Facebook page.

Social Networking Etiquette

Why are Facebook and Twitter so popular? For one thing, they're personal. You can learn a lot about a person by reading their profile, following their favorite links, and learning about their hobbies and interests. Also, they are interactive communities that bring people together. In this age of Internet marketing, people want to talk with a real person rather than receive generic messages from a faceless corporation. Social networking lets you connect with your audience on a new level.

The golden rule of social networking is to just be yourself. Don't spam people with ads for your business, and don't bore them with generic messages. Get to know them, and they'll soon spread the word about the valuable services you offer.

HOW TO DEVELOP A SUCCESS MENTALITY by Jason Osborn

Success is so much easier to achieve if you have a success mentality. Without a success mentality it’s difficult to recognize when an opportunity for success is presenting itself. The more of a success mentality you have the more success you will have. So how do you develop a success mentality? Here are 3 keys to help you do just that.

1. Get around other successful people.
Have you ever noticed that smokers hang around other smokers and married people hang out with other married people? They do this because they have things in common and can relate to each other. If you want to develop a success mentality then you need to hang around people that already have one. By doing this, you will pick up and learn things from them so that you can also develop a success mentality.

2. Develop yourself.
You can’t develop a success mentality by just sitting around and wanting one. From now on make it a habit to do things that will develop your mind. Some of the best ways to do this is to read success centered books, attend seminars, and listen to cd’s that will help you grow. The more you develop yourself the more you will obtain a success mentality.

3. Stop thinking negative.

Negative thoughts will kill a success mentality. Start to replace negative thoughts with positive ones and you will see a huge difference in the way that you think and perceive things. The more positive your thoughts become, the more of a success mentality you will have. Is there greatness on the inside of you but you don't know how to achieve it?
