THE POWER OF HAPPINESS by Lauren Hudson
Imagine having the power to change your destiny – to take control over your personal and professional life – to deal with difficult people and situations no matter what. That’s the Power of Happiness.
Happiness allows us to be the person we want to be and live the life that we want to live. It helps turn chaos into order – confusion into clarity – and, a house into a home. Yet, for many people, happiness is something they have either forgotten how to have, or never really ever understood. They often look for it in physical pleasure, comfort, amenities, excitement, or approval from others. While this might bring momentary delight, it is usually sandwiched between monotony and mediocrity. Without happiness, we are reduced to merely existing. We miss out on the fullness of our lives – simply observing without truly experiencing its deeper possibilities, and even impossibilities.
Being happy is the difference between good and GREAT – between ordinary and EXTRAORDINARY – between living and BEING ALIVE! When we have adopted a happiness mind-set, we tend to be more motivated, creative, and decisive. It makes us feel as thought we can change the world because we are in charge of our lives from the inside out. With this increased sense of energy, we feel there’s nothing holding us back. We have the power that will propel us past any obstacle and turn our dreams into reality – a “can do” attitude that makes our future more promising than ever.
Having an outlook of happiness brings a feeling of excitement and contentment – energy and calm. You wake up each morning with a sense of interest and enthusiasm – ready to see what you can make of the day – knowing that, regardless of what happens – everything is going to be alright. And, it’s a fact - healthy and happy thoughts help build the mind and body. If laughter is, indeed, the best medicine – happiness should be our daily vitamin.
Being truly happy doesn’t mean you don’t have any problems. It means you have a more positive way of handling them. It allows you to accept what you cannot change and consider constructive ways to change the things you can. You are more willing to forgive. You stop feeling guilty and let go of the past. With a happiness know-how, you are better able to cope with fear, anxiety and stress. Your self-image is boosted and relationships are improved. How happy or unhappy we fell – how we think we’re doing – effects our entire life (and those around us like our children, co-workers, family, friends and others).
Happiness is not a luxury. It is a necessity. It is an essential ingredient in our lives. It is that basic balance – that equilibrium that keeps us stable, steady and strong. Deciding to be happy can give you the power to change your world in ways you have probably never imagined.
